Carbon & Low Alloy Steel Plates

Carbon and Alloy Steel Plates are mainly used in the construction of buildings, bridges, ships, pressure vessels, pipes, large machines and other heavy structures, for which good form-ability, weld-ability and machine-ability are required. The impairment of these desirable characteristics with increasing carbon content usually limits the constructional grades, with the low carbon grades predominating. Many alloy steel are also produced as plate. In the final structure, however, alloy steel plate is sometimes heat treated to achieve mechanical properties superior to these typical of the hot-finished product. In the SBG you can find four categories of carbon and low alloy plates: steel for high temperature service, steel for moderate temperature service, steel for sour service, steel for cryogenic service.
